Captain David Cheap & Prize Money from Captured Spanish Galleon

The article states that Cheap was awarded money from Commodore Anson's capture of the Spanish Galleon and that this award was sufficient to make him a wealthy man. I don't claim to be an expert on this but other accounts suggest that he received nothing from the Galleon's prize money as British maritime law did not require it for the reason that Cheap had nothing to do with the capture of the Galleon. 2603:6080:4A00:E80:597E:83D2:1BC0:C0C (talk) 14:28, 17 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
