Rhythm guitar versus "co-lead"

[edit]

Dave Mustaine is the co-lead guitarist for Megadeth. I have followed the band since their first album, and seen them several times. His lead work is all over the latest album, and he still plays lead live on stage. He should be consider the co-lead guitarist, not the rhythm guitarist. 108.7.66.133 (talk) 18:43, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please offer published reliable sources to support your claim. 331dot (talk) 18:47, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
@108.7.66.133 if you look at the sheet for most of the songs you'd see that Dave often plays backing rhythm during Marty's, Poland's, and Kiko's solos. There are exceptions such as Hangar 18, When, and etc but he is generally regarded as a rhythm player. That's why he's on rhythm guitarist lists, not lead guitarist ranking lists. 20:52, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
Everybody including Mustaine himself categorize him as a rhythm guitarist, albeit an unusual one. See "Dave Mustaine names himself as one of the 'fantastic four' of rhythm guitar" as an example. Binksternet (talk) 12:37, 26 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

From the politics section, change

"In 1988, Mustaine caused a riot when Megadeth played a concert in Northern Ireland after he dedicated a song to "the cause", later claiming surprise that this was a euphemism for supporting the Irish Republican Army (IRA) regarding the problems between Northern Ireland's Catholic and Protestant communities."

"In 1988, Mustaine caused a riot when Megadeth played a concert in Northern Ireland after he dedicated a song to "the cause", later expressing surprise that this was a euphemism for supporting the Irish Republican Army (IRA) in the conflict between Northern Ireland's Republican and Unionist communities."

Aside from clumsy wording ("claiming surprise") the current text suggests the Troubles was primarily a religious conflict, which contemporary understandings (including paragraph 2 of Wikipedia's own page on the subject[1]) do not support. Crinkle puca (talk) 11:14, 24 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Partly done: While I see your point, the cited source (including a quote from Mustaine himself) specifically mentions conflict between Catholics and Protestants, not Republicans and Unionists, and I don't think the current wording makes it sound as if Wikipedia is suggesting it was solely a religious conflict. I did implement your other wording changes. DrOrinScrivello (talk) 14:59, 24 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

From the Megadeth section, change

"This was the only time Megadeth and Metallica were on the same card, until 1991."

to

"This was the only time Megadeth and Metallica were on the same card, until 1993."

Megadeth and Metallica did not share the stage in 1991. After 1985 they wouldn't play the same show until Megadeth opened for Metallica at the Milton Keynes National Bowl in 1993. Davex2 (talk) 04:53, 7 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

alright, since both are unsourced, might as well FMSky (talk) 13:12, 7 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
