Help re: Too few opinions
[edit]Can someone explain the "Too few opinions" tags on this article? I see about 10 contributors to the article, many sources. What else would be needed? ~2026-34677-0 (talk) 13:21, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
- I would conccur. I am a modest contributor to Wikipedia, still learning the rules. What else should we be doing to remove this tag? The various translations available have the same source and do not have this flag. jgp (talk) 18:16, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
- Let's start with the simple fact: the term "data product" was in use for more than half a century. It was part of the standard lingo of US government agencies for the most of the second half of the 20th century. Thus the history starting with DJ Patil in 2012 and some "Data Mesh" is highly misleading. The definition also appears incorrect, as the "data product" meant simply an output of the software program or data collection device. The term is fairly generic, thus the article must reflect the actual meaning(s), as opposed to the narrow view of "Data Mesh". Викидим (talk) 02:48, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- Can you add your sources to the article and we move on? ~2026-42068-35 (talk) 06:05, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
- I just pointed to a flaw, and did not propose a solution. Essentially, the current scope (and definition) are not correct, better sources and text are needed, and this is a significant effort that I have no time to undertake. Getting sources to verify my words is easy: just search the Google books for "data product" while limiting the search to pre-1985 publications. This would yield multiple mentions of "data products" for sale some 25+ years before "Data Mesh". But this is an (easy to obtain) proof that the current text is incorrect, not the good sources fit for rewriting. Викидим (talk) 06:39, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
