Formation
[edit]> The six dancers form a circle, traditionally of three men and three women standing alternately, which will break apart into two sets of three dancers.
In my experience of this dance, at various times from the late 1950s to the early 1970s, the formation was that each gentleman asked two ladies to dance, so each set of three was of a gentleman in the middle and a lady to each side of him.
