Past Tense

[edit]

Why does the introduction use the past tense? The article makes clear there are Dalits to this day. They did not disappear as the intro implies 118.149.90.41 (talk) 05:17, 21 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Dear fellow Wikipedians,

Firstly, you haven’t mentioned the most important point….you should clearly note in brackets that the so called caste hierarchy originally began as an occupation based system. In ancient times, a person’s role was determined by their interests and abilities: Brahmins were not just priests but also teachers and intellectuals; Kshatriyas included warriors, rulers, and ministers; Vaishyas handled trade and agriculture; Shudras formed the labour class; and Dalits were service providers, comparable today to sanitation workers like those of sewage cleaners . It was only in later centuries that people from the higher groups distorted this system and turned it into a birth-based hierarchy, which eventually came to be known as the caste system. Thankyou.

I have submitted Draft:Waman_Nimbalkar for AfC review. Nimbalkar (1943–2010) was a foundational Marathi Dalit poet, Dalit Panthers signatory, and publisher. I have disclosed a COI (I am his nephew). The draft has 11 independent citations including Orient BlackSwan, HathiTrust, and MANUU university materials. Would appreciate review from editors familiar with Indian literature or Dalit studies. "hinduism" should be wikified in the lead ~2026-33532-53 (talk) 23:14, 5 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Not done: It's already linked in the second paragraph (and probably shouldn't even be linked at all per MOS:OVERLINK). Day Creature (talk) 13:48, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

is it checked by LLM? Daniel11101 (talk) 06:09, 6 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I am not sure what you mean by "checked by LLM", but if you are asking if I used an LLM to determine that your text was AI-generated, I did not. Day Creature (talk) 18:22, 7 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
