List of songs in the lead

[edit]

I have removed a number of songs from the lead paragraph's list of "[h]er best known songs" because seventeen song titles in a row, all blue-linked, all with quotation marks around them, was really rather overwhelming. Even at William Shakespeare, for example, a featured article and an exemplar of our best work, we list only six of his plays in the lead section, and none at all in the lead paragraph, so i suggest that the number we had here was serious overkill. I am, of course, open to discussion, which is why i've put this section here ~ LindsayHello 06:45, 24 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

I have restored a few of the songs previously listed because it seemed the edit was made by cutting a random portion of text without caring to choose the songs from the list which were less iconic or representative. (Now, I might have been influenced by my own preferences, so take my edit with a grain of salt as well.) Though I agree there were probably too many of them before. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 22:53, 10 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Jeepers, thanks! It was not a random cut, thought went into it. More to the point, though, you've added back enough to more than double the number there (i'd reduced it to four, there are now ten!), which is far too many. I would find it hard to say that we should have more than five ~ this is the lead, meant to summarise the article, not list everything ~ maybe i didn't choose the right ones to cut, so feel free to make a different or better choice, but let's keep it down to four or five, please ~ LindsayHello 09:45, 11 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
That’s the thing I meant in my previous comment. Cutting them down means selecting the more relevant ones, and just the two of us seem to have a very different idea of which of Dalida’s songs are most iconic. That’s why I didn’t dare keep only five, they’d basically be my five favorites and I’m not sure they would offer the reader an objective perspective. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 10:18, 11 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'll confess, it's been a couple of weeks since i made my cutting edit and i have mostly forgotten how i chose which to remove. I certainly wasn't just going by my favourites; i suspect (though examination of the article could prove me wrong!) that i chose to keep those which had second mention and wlinks within the article, as that would be a relatively logical and non-partisan way. Again, without trying to belabour the point, we only list six of his plays in the Shakespeare lead; i find it hard to believe that we need that many or more for Dalida: The lead is only there to hit the high points ~ or the highest of the high points if there are that many ~ so i still believe we should cut it down. I hope someone else also will feel free to comment here and help us in our discussion ~ LindsayHello 16:35, 13 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for clarifying. I’ll try to find some independent sources listing what they consider her best known tracks, hoping it can be a starting point. There are so many it’s really hard to narrow the field objectively. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 16:46, 13 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Done. The current list is based on four sources in three different languages  I included the titles mentioned at least twice across the sources (except "Ciao amore ciao" because it doesn't have an article on enwiki) plus "Paroles paroles" as it is her most notable duet. I commented out "Helwa ya baladi", which is probably her signature song in her country of birth but is only mentioned once, in the Arabic-language source. We currently are at seven songs, I feel it can be a reasonable start. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 19:09, 13 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Update: found another source and it mentions "Helwa ya baladi". The list stays at eight for the moment. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 19:55, 13 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Jewish roots

[edit]

Jew. I see that someone is unable to elementary read the sources. There are NO evidences that Dalida had Jewish roots. Only speculations. I find it is disgusting to create the biography of someone based on rumors.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.228.21.26 (talk) 08:15, 20 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Well, the wording was very clear that they are speculations, so there was no reason to remove it. I’ll restore it. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 14:43, 26 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
Exactly, there’s no evidence whatsoever. I removed it due to it being false information and someone reverted it. Atlasstar09 (talk) 05:05, 7 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
It is sourced and it is not presented as proven information. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 11:09, 7 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
That’s not very clear, the Rabbi source doesn’t really have solid evidence either. I’ve genuinely tried to research the Algerian-Jewish claim and I simply cannot anything, all of her traceable ancestry is Italian. It’s just a rumour and I don’t really think it should be on her offical Wikipedia page but you’re obviously relentless so I’ll just make it clear for the reader, thank you. Atlasstar09 (talk) 11:22, 8 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

No actual evidence for Jewish roots

[edit]

There’s no evidence of her father being Algerian-Jewish, her only recorded ancestry is Italian. It’s purely oral myth. She never mentioned having Jewish ancestry either. Atlasstar09 (talk) 05:04, 7 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Fake news

[edit]

After checking, several pieces of information on this page are false.

So I've removed all of this fake news, as well as any that can't be verified. And more generally, we should no longer take the fanclub's website (dalida.com) as a reliable source. Most of the information on this site is exaggerated or invented.

I also removed some repetitions (like movies that were listed in two places). Bobby80 (talk) 09:48, 18 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for checking and cleaning the section up! ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 22:08, 23 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

false removal

[edit]

someone keeps reverting my changes, specifically in her personal life paragraph. There’s no evidence that suggests that she was jewish, let alone algerian jewish, and it’s purely oral myth. Whoever keeps doing it, stop. Atlasstar09 (talk) 08:49, 13 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

The source is clear and the wording too. Nobody is presenting that as fact. You, on the contrary, are trying to make the sources say something they don’t say. So kindly stop. Regards. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 10:18, 13 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
I’m not sure what your issue is or why you’re so fixated with trying to fix my information in particular. I have changed information inconsistently throughout the past week, with my edits spanning days and every time you immediately revert it within hours, are you that bored? Like seriously? Plus, your ‘source’ isn’t even that reliable and is just a random guy talking a bunch of nonsense with no evidence backing it up.
Leave me alone please, thanks! Atlasstar09 (talk) 11:56, 13 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sephardic Jews is a much larger group than Algerian Jews, not to mention Algerian Jews may also ascribe to different subgroups. This was your lastest change and it was disruptive. Stop restoring it or I’ll have to report you. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 11:58, 13 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
I’m not even going to bother with this anymore, you literally replied in less than 5 minutes and your now threatening to report me, great! Atlasstar09 (talk) 12:02, 13 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
There is a thing called watchlist on Wikipedia. This article is on my watchlist, that’s all. We can discuss whether we should include this speculation in the article, but you can’t distort the content of the sources nor divert the point to accusations that I’m obsessing over your edits, which would be considered a personal attack. Regards. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 12:09, 13 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
