This article fails to mention anything of his college career. Dale Hackbart played for the Wisconsin Badgers and was their quarterback. He took the Badgers to the 1960 Rose Bowl and, if memory serves, brought the Badgers a win.
My mistake. Although Hackbart took the Badgers to the Rose Bowl in 1960, they were soundly beaten by the Washington Huskies, 44-8. It was an interesting Rose Bowl from the perspective neither team had been to the Rose Bowl in some number of years. That Badger team also had the great punter and place kicker Jim Bakken who went on to a career in the NFL with the Cardinals when they were in St. Louis.
