  @In ictu oculi, could you clarify your stance? Are you supporting a move but just preferring Nation (Kenyan newspaper) as the target? That seems like it could potentially work, but I'd still prefer Nation.Africa as WP:NATURALDISAMBIGUATION, particularly given that it seems like they may be trying to expand their scope beyond just Kenya.

  As a note to the closer, if we fail to reach a consensus, please consider a WP:BARTENDER close with either of the options rather than retaining the status quo inferior to either of them. {{u|Sdkb}} ^talk 18:16, 20 August 2022 (UTC)

  @Necrothesp:, thanks for your contribution. In Wikipedia's consensus system, plain "support"/"oppose" statements without an accompanying rationale don't tend to be given much weight by the discussion closer. As above, could you add a rationale? {{u|Sdkb}} ^talk 14:02, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

  "Nation.Africa" appears to be no more than a branding exercise. Nation is the name that is used throughout the website. But it's been Daily Nation for over sixty years, so we don't know whether the new name has yet stuck. Incidentally, as a friendly piece of advice, best not to try to explain how Wikipedia works to a very experienced editor. • Oppose any move, at least for now. Outside of a few contexts not at issue here, we generally only go along with a name change if most independent reliable sources written after the change are using the new name. See WP:NAMECHANGES. In this case, it's a bit hard to know for certain which one is most prevalent (any search brings up a lot of false positives), but many sources from just the past month or two are still using Daily Nation: the BBC, Bloomberg, Deutsche Welle, Agence France-Presse, The Standard, etc. Now, to be fair, some sources do cut in the other direction (e.g. Al Jazeera, the Financial Times), but on balance I'm not yet convinced that Daily Nation is no longer the common name. That may change in the future, of course, so if sources start consistently using another title, a second RM would be appropriate at that point. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 00:16, 28 August 2022 (UTC)

Names

Although the website no longer seems to refer to the Daily Nation, the pinned post on X shows the front page of the latest edition of the print Kenyan version of the newspaper headed with the old title. Just a FYI, as I was also wondering and so googled. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 05:45, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
