“Supplants” probably should be “supplements.”

[edit]

In the description or caption for the first picture, it states that the Decwriter “supplants” the video terminal. I think the word wanted is “supplements.” In this context “supplants” would say that the printing Decwriter replaces or supersedes the video display terminal.

They are visually similar words, and I make this kind of mistake, so I understand it happening. RonBOakes (talk) 05:54, 7 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

I agree, and have fixed this as part of a major revision. Reify-tech (talk) 21:39, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

DECWriter IV introduction date in the article must be 1981 or earlier

[edit]

Here is a magazine ad for DECWriter IV from May 19. 1981: https://nla.gov.au/nla.obj-1193889284/view?sectionId=nla.obj-1577911094

Further, this website claims that they have a photo of DECWriter IV from April 28, 1981: https://www.computerhistory.org/collections/catalog/102759600

So the article's claim that DECWriter IV was introduced in 1982 seems to be wrong. 87.92.228.81 (talk) 08:46, 8 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
