problem with the radius

I would like a reference for the 1,536,600 km value from the planet's surface. When I do the calculation, I obtain this value from the planet's center. The Mars equivalent calculus give also the value from the center and specify the altitude by substracting the Mars radius. Maybe the author here have skipped that.
