The Queensland floods affected places as far as Coober Pedy and Northern NSW. only 14 fatalities occured, thanks to the quick response from flood mitigation services.Cyclone Wanda triggered an air mass over Brisbane into intense rainfall. By R.Cario

the numbers of houses damaged is listed in the article twice - both with different values. Both values are incorrect, refer to this page (Emergency Management Australia - AusGov site) http://www.ema.gov.au/ema/emadisasters.nsf/9d804be3fb07ff5cca256d1100189e22/a6a4dce286660b23ca256d3300057baf?OpenDocument

Regarding the number of homes that experienced flooding, I found this EMA page which says 13,00 homes. I have another source that says 14,000. McBride, Frank; et al. (2009). Brisbane 150 Stories. 1974 Brisbane floodCyclone Wanda – The storm that caused the flooding was named Wanda. Usually storm articles get the name for an article if they were named. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 06:10, 10 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Also, if it were to get moved, the Corinda landslip could also get merged there. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 06:11, 10 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Should we make a separate article of 1974 Brisbane floods

[edit]

(snipped) These are the information. We can slightly shorten the impacts of Wanda Owen is the best GG (talk) 01:10, 3 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Owen is the best GG:, I suggest adding that information to the Wanda article, which caused the floods. There's no need for a separate flood article at the time. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 01:13, 3 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. Should we add them as 'impacts' or 'effects' and 'aftermath'. I'd think a good image for cover of Wanda would be the 1974 Brisbane floods highlighting its impacts. Owen is the best GG (talk) 01:25, 3 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Depends if the info is preparations, impacts, or aftermath. Also typically we use a satellite image of a storm as the main image. Flood images can be included in the article as well. Hurricanehink mobile (talk) 14:15, 3 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you :), but there is no storm image Owen is the best GG (talk) 22:25, 3 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oh true! Unless a satellite image can be found, then yea, a flood image could work for the infobox. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 03:06, 4 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Good idea to use the original 1974 Brisbane floods infobox until we find a satellite image of Cyclone Wanda Owen is the best GG (talk) 03:18, 4 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for doing that. Yea, you're right that it was formatted as a flood article for a while. But seeing as the floods were caused by a tropical cyclone, it should be formatted like a tropical cyclone article. I renamed the Effects to "Impact" for that reason. Keep up the good work though, Owen is the best GG! ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:14, 4 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Seeing as Wanda caused the landslide, shouldn't the landslip article be merged here? ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:40, 19 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Support merge, aspect of the main subject that doesn't need to be separate when they can be covered together. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 00:33, 22 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
