Issues with new History section

[edit]

Hello all- Recently the user Dejvid added a history section with many problems. I undid the addition, Dejvid reverted, and now I have again removed the section. After at first being puzzled by the presentation of the new section, I now think it seems to be the analogous section from fr.wp, copied and auto-translated, then simply pasted as-is, including footnote numbering and parenthetical notes. See Article history and diff showing the many problems with the addition. Eric talk 14:53, 26 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

That's exactly what it is. I am well aware that it needs work but I can't do the work if you keep deleting it.Dejvid (talk) 09:02, 27 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
As I think you would already know, the place to work on it would be the sandbox. Also, it might be a good idea to consult Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia#Translating_from_other_language_Wikimedia_projects and Template:Translated_page. Eric talk 13:48, 27 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
"The preferred way to do this is in an edit summary in the translated page, " which I did.Dejvid (talk) 14:29, 27 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
On top of that you deleted the part that wasn't from French Wikki along with the rest.Dejvid (talk) 14:36, 27 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
I think that you understand what my concerns were, and I find that your comments here reflect more personal defensiveness than a sincere attempt at considering those concerns. Eric talk 15:02, 27 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
If you don't want people to be defensive, try not insulting them right at the start in the edit summaryDejvid (talk) 15:39, 27 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
I would suggest that only someone looking for opportunities to feel "insulted" would have such a reaction to my edit summary. Eric talk 17:52, 27 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'm not going to post a history section unless it is in natural English and fully referenced. Lets just draw a line under this.Dejvid (talk) 09:18, 28 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
