Contemporary Usage

The article should include in its introduction what is, at the moment, the very last statement on the contemporary equivalence to the racial epithet "Nigger".

Frankly, all of the surrounding discussion on the historical usage, etymology etcetera meandering its way around to finally mention this fact makes me think it's a subconscious (if not conscious and deliberate) attempt to trivialize and obfuscate what the word means in modern usage; arguably a most relevant aspect of its meaning to a modern reader. Very strange to include it at the very end.

I came to this from an article mentioning an Israeli musician's controversial use of it in reference to Obama. If I had not already known that it's an equivalent to the N-word, I could easily have left with an unjustified, partisan and forgiving attitude towards the almost certainly racist comment.
