Turnover

Does Fosse Park really have the highest turnover? I believe its very close to Wednesbury Juntion 9? Can anyone confirm this? Goatboy2005

Although I no longer work for Currys (my High Street store closed end of February), I always believed it was Junction 9 that had the highest turnover. My store probably had the smallest turnover, being about the 2nd smallest left in the country at the time of closing. At this time of year we would probably average about £30,000 > £35,000 per month :)

I used to work at J9, the highest turnover usually alternated between us and Fosse. It just looks like the article has been written by someone from Fosse Park - I think the highest turnover is irrelavent and could be removed; or at least changed. GoatBoy2005

When were Dixons stores in Ireland rebranded as Currys?

Would someone with knowledge of this please clarify the apparent inconsistency between the cited link that says "2008" and an old edit that changed this page from saying "2008" to "1998"? I'm trying to assume good faith. 92.40.253.117 (talk) 02:32, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

Who in the world is "Sebastian"?

I just saw this edit on the Currys page:

"Currys is run by Sebastian, the one with no moral code whose staff pride themselves on incompetence, telling lies about the products and generally acting without any virtue or integrity. For excellent products DO NOT BUY FROM CURRYS!"

Merger discussion

• Weak oppose The two articles have very different histories. The Currys plc article is about a company which was born out of the merger of Dixons Retail and Carphone Warehouse Group in 2014. The Currys article is about a company formed to make bicycles in Leicester in 1884. There is a quite a lot of good material in the Currys article which would need to be merged into the Currys plc article. Dormskirk (talk) 18:16, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
• I think that considering Carphone Warehouse has its own Wikipedia page outside of the merger page, we can make it clear to reflect that the brand was merged into Currys. I find that the PLC and the Currys are reflecting more or less the same topic. Zerbstill (talk) 12:02, 10 October 2021 (UTC)

Edit request: founding date, headquarters, post-2021 history, services

Disclosure: I am making this request on behalf of Currys, as an employee of its agency, and per WP:COI am requesting changes rather than editing the article directly.

Requested changes:

1. Founding date contradiction (lead): the lead says "Established as a bicycle retailer in 1927", but the infobox and History section say Henry Curry began making bicycles in 1884 (1927 was the public flotation). Suggested wording: "Established as a bicycle manufacturer in 1884 and floated in 1927, Currys expanded the range of goods sold and from the 1960s became a major retailer of household electrical items."
2. Headquarters (infobox): currently "Waterloo, London". The registered office is 1 Portal Way, London, W3 6RS (see currys.co.uk site footer and Currys plc corporate site). Suggest updating to "London, England" with the registered office noted, or "1 Portal Way, London".
3. Post-2021 history: the History section ends with the 2021 rebrand. Suggest adding that parent Dixons Carphone plc was itself renamed Currys plc in 2021 (already sourced at the Currys plc article).
4. Services (new short section, if editors consider it due): the lead describes Currys as an "aftercare service provider" but the article does not cover services. Suggested neutral text: "Currys operates a number of aftercare and retail services, including the Care & Repair repair plan, Instant Replacement extended warranties, a trade-in scheme, and ShopLive, a video-call shopping advice service. The company also offers consumer credit under the "flexpay" brand as a credit broker, with lending provided by Creation Consumer Finance, part of BNP Paribas Personal Finance." 5. Recycling: consider a sentence, attributed to the company: "Currys describes itself as the UK's largest technology recycler, recycling an average of 60,000 tonnes of electronic waste per year; customers can recycle old electricals free in any store regardless of where they were bought."
