I'd like to change "Cuba is located at the confluence" to "Cuba is located at the interface" .... as the bounding seas do not converge or come together as indicated by 'confluence'; i.e. the body of water as a unit is not in motion. The glass in your window does not separate converging air masses; it is at a boundary between the two, i.e. an interface. Thank you.

 Not done: The article's second sentence says "convergence", not "confluence", and that wording seems fine to me. Currents are exchanged between the different seas (e.g. the Gulf Stream), so your window metaphor isn't really apt. Day Creature (talk) 17:58, 23 May 2026 (UTC)

Thanks for your consideration. How about something along the lines of "Cuba is adjacent to the NW by the Gulf of Mexico, to the NE by the Atlantic Ocean, and to the South by the Caribbean Sea"? or perhaps using 'border' variants rather than 'adjacency'? While streams do indeed converge, stable bodies do not, and gulfs, oceans, and seas as identities do not roam about or flow. Mh3riley (talk) 11:44, 26 May 2026 (UTC)

Seas do not flow into each other on an island. The Gulf Stream is irrelevant to this conversation, and appropriately not mentioned in the article. But you're right about one thing ... I was wrong in citing 'confluence' when the article does indeed state 'convergence'. How do you know that all those water bodies are not diverging? or mixing? or diffusing? I'm not challenging the grammar; I'm challenging the descriptive noun. I was hoping for a third opinion, but it's not important enough for me to pursue. current: "Cuba is a founding member of the UN, ..." I find it quite peculiar that UN is not linked to the United Nations article, consistent with the several trailing organization links. I haven't spent the effort to become clever enough to discover the history of that particular line, or mention of it in the Talk. I did verify that Cuba was a signatory of the charter.
