CU Originates in Research V7, Not 4.2BSD

[edit]

Cu is a part of the UUCP family of applications which were formally released with Bell Labs research UNIX V7 rather than 4.2BSD as evidenced by presence in source code here https://minnie.tuhs.org/cgi-bin/utree.pl?file=V7/usr/src/cmd/cu.c

This can also be corroborated by the UNIX Programmer's Manual 7th Edition as well as the presence of cu (and other UUCP applications) in USG UNIX releases prior to 4.2BSD. In fact, even in the BSD line this is inaccurate as 3BSD was branched from V7 and therefore already contained cu. I'm not interested in creating an account so someone else who'd like the attribution can make this edit with these sources. 73.11.220.45 (talk) 19:19, 10 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
