Hi. I can't find sources to establish independent notability or expand this stub into much more than we already have at Mahon Bridge#Amenities and tourism. Am I missing something? Is there coverage of this riverside walkway to the extent that it is more notable than the 6,000 other wooded areas/trails/amenities managed by Coillte? Given that various WP:MERGEREASONs apply (including that this title is likely to remain very short, and - if it is expanded - would overlap/duplicate with the existing article/section), I'm inclined to merge/redirect it to Mahon Bridge#Amenities and tourism. you make good points. I think there is sufficient notablity to include Mahon Falls and Coumshingaun lake either as articles in their own right or as part of a bigger article on the comeragh mountains and its amenities, and Crough Wood could be incorporated into that.

Agreed. Maybe we could create a section in the River Mahon article and redirect there? (That may be better than in the Mahon Bridge article. As, in effect, the subject is a wooded/paved stretch of the river. And is perhaps dealt with as such...) Guliolopez (talk) 16:47, 8 June 2026 (UTC)

• "more references and citations to back up the notability". The Teagasc webpage scarcely mentions the woods in passing. The Examiner article (local coverage seemingly "funded by the Local Democracy Scheme") is also not significant coverage of the subject.

I don't understand what you are saying here. To confirm, I am only proposing to merge/redirect this title (on Crough Wood) to a section of the River Mahon article. I am not proposing to merge content on any other amenities/features (including text on Coumshingaun Lough?) anywhere.
• "notable amenities". I still don't think that this woods is a "notable amenity". If there isn't agreement (or is confusion) on a merge, I'm happy to open an AfD discussion. To establish broader consensus. Per WP:RFCMERGEAFD.

Hi. In terms of :

• YouTube videos generally, and per WP:RSPYT, YouTube may be used as a source only if the video is from a verified official account (like a news org) which is considered reliable.
• that YouTube video specifically, what part of the text would it be used it to support? (It seems to be about the "2025 RDS Community Woodland Award"? Which is already sourced?)

As above and to confirm, and as the title effectively deals with a walking trail on a stretch of the River Mahon, I propose to merge/redirect to River_Mahon#Sport_and_leisure. I think that's a good home, and a reference to there can be created in the Mahon Bridge article also. There are other walks on the Mahon that can also be added, I can look for references. Tomkeithie (talk) 14:29, 14 June 2026 (UTC)

Resolved OK. Given the discussion above, I've gone ahead with the merge and redirect. Discussion on content of "higher level article on the Comeragh Mountains, along with the other amenities in the greater mountain area" can be covered in that/those higher-level article(s). Size of the woods

Previous editor mentions that "Crough Wood" is listed at 4ha/10acres which is quite small.

There is a difference between the small wooded area at the road in Mahon Bridge, the larger woods up river, and the entire "Crough Wood Walk" which is 2.7km long and in quite a large area of the Mahon Valley. I will research this further Munstertom (talk) 11:15, 16 June 2026 (UTC)

A quick measurement on Google maps shows 290,000m2 or around 72 acres, not quite the 100 acre wood of Winnie the Pooh, but a sizable area. Munstertom (talk) 11:20, 16 June 2026 (UTC)

They are talking about different things, one was a woodland area, the other a walk. Please stop with the instructions, is it OR if you check the accuracy of sources, and refer to it in a Talk page? Munstertom (talk) 11:55, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
