FWIW, this is not an Italian thing. It's probably common the world over. For example, in the Middle Ages in England (at least) they served their meals on slabs of bread, called trenchers, even at banquets, so we're talking big hunks of bread.
Anyway, this struck me as a little insular in its wording. I realize you were quoting from a source, but maybe if you said something more along the lines of "so-and-so speculates/says that..." Gives it a narrower focus without excluding anything else. Zlama (talk) 10:25, 6 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
