Dispute: Existence

Did this bird exist, or has modern research dis-proven its existence. Davies seems to think that this species is not one of the 10. I understand that the history of fossil birds, especially of this Family is hard but... Well people, let me know what you think speednat (talk) 09:12, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

I came across this article as a link from the Pachyornis article. I'm adding links to images from the book Extinct birds of New Zealand which - as it was published only recently - I assume reflects the latest research into the extinct birds featured. I've also found a reference to the holotype specimen - a skull - which is also in the collection of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.
