- Pros: flexibility, both in terms of time to complete the degree and number of areas one can major or minor in. It also facilitates moving from one school to another, both domestically and internationally.

Standardized in the US
[edit]While the section on the US claims that there is no standard, the "see also" references the Carnegie Unit and Student Hour says that it is standardized in the US. Why is this article then so offhand and vague and why doesn't it prominently feature the other article?Student7 (talk) 10:47, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Purpose of article
[edit]Unclear whether this is supposed to address seat time or course credits - seems to vary from region to region. Would be useful to work on restructuring all articles which refer to US/Canadian seat time and the Carnegie Unit for clarity... - Sara FB (talk) 23:45, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
