Is the article suggesting that a couple can be a number other than 2? Is this possible? To me a couple is 2 and only 2. 203.134.124.36 (talk) 01:57, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

In linguistic analysis using fuzzy logic, it is accepted that "couple" means "two or few" (please see https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/learner-english/couple). In general because of of the overlap or intersection between the meaning of "couple" and "few" to me the most reasonable about the meaning of couple is "2 or 3." If I wanted to mean "two and only two" I would tend to say "two." 75.151.73.57 (talk) 07:53, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

Use of a "couple" in Ireland often means more than two. Same in many other dialects of English. --86.162.119.170 (talk) 21:30, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
