Membership fees vs retail sales

[edit]

I've reinstated the citation request on the first sentence under Business Model regarding fees versus sales revenue. Although taken from an unreliable source (which, BTW, was archived, so is still accessible despite Coolcaesar's claim that it's not), that source contradicted his own article. I tried to find a better source, but I'm finding the results confusing. They come back with membership fees being only a very small portion of net revenue, but this one gets into the "membership margin" and claims it's 66% of the "bottom line", which might be the source of the confusion. (As I understand it, net revenue IS the bottom line, so I don't know how they calculated the 66%. Using their numbers, membership was 65% of "net income".) Meanwhile, USA Today gives some different numbers even though these two articles were written less than a week apart. It's all in the terminology and what numbers they're using. Maybe someone with better business acumen could look into this and come up with something definitive? Ghost writer's cat (talk) 04:16, 5 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Kirkland signature section

[edit]

This seems either GPT assisted or COI, IMO the language is a bit over promotional.

Should this be rewritten or just toned down (or left alone) ? DarmaniLink (talk) 05:29, 10 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

I agree that some of the copy sounded promotional or "markety." I trimmed a good portion of it. pillowcrow 18:01, 20 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Medicare?

[edit]

They are running kind of a demo in a few states of insurance as reported in the articles below. Is it worth adding these to the Services section?

Checkout Process Section?

[edit]

Member has to scan membership, guests have no purchasing privileges, pre-scanning, self-checkout. This could fit well before the "Costco credit card" section. In Canada the warehouses only accept debit, cash, cheque, and Mastercard (not VISA or Amex, unless it's a Costco credit card). M0.cuddle (talk) 05:01, 22 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

I don't really think that's necessary. There are already a lot of trivia-like details in the article that could be trimmed. At the very least, it certainly doesn't warrant its own section. pillowcrow 05:45, 22 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
