For a period of time Corimelaenidae was regarded as a junior synonym for Thyreocoridae, or Thyreocorinae when it was a subfamily of the Cydnidae. In 2011 Dyanega said in an edit summary that this title needs to be redirect; not a family in recent classifications. In 1988, that was true, but by 2008 Corimelaenidae had been recognized as a separate family from the Cydnidae, and Thyreocorinae, sensu strictu, as its subfamily.
