Re: the just-added section on possible compounds (Special:Diff/1339226786/1341663020), my literature search also found two papers claiming a dark brown solid with empirical formula CuO2H.[1][2] However, unlike the review I used to write this section (Connor and Ebsworth 1964),[3] these are primary sources, uncited by secondary reviews. Moreover, they read strangely: e.g. the authors attribute oxygen evolution upon acidification to non-stoichiometric superoxide content, while dismissing the possibility of oxygen generation from the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide via Cu(I)/(II) Fenton chemistry (the explanation alluded to by multiple other sources).
