Rebranding
[edit]The Common App just released a new branding, with a new logo and potentially officially changing their name to "Common App", as that's how it now appears on the logo. Not entirely sure what to do about the logo, if the current file gets a new version or an additional file is created, one for the new and one for the old. I would suggest that the page be moved to "Common App", with "Common Application" as a redirect there, but I don't know for sure if Common App is their official name now. - Support, this seems to be the official name for all but the legal entity (which remains "The Common Application, Inc."), and anecdotally the name that I hear most often by far as well. Eiim (talk) 05:51, 3 July 2025 (UTC)

- Support. I looked at the first 5 pages of Google News hits and nearly all used Common App: US News & World Report, BigFuture, Forbes, The Hoya, Higher Ed Dive, National College Attainment Network, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inside Higher Ed, Business Insider, The Knight Crier (appears to be a high school student paper), Education Week. All are recent publications. I excluded repeats articles in the same publication and college admissions pages and other non-news sites that populated the results—though perhaps college and university pages should be considered reliable for usage. A common pattern is to use Common App in headlines, use Common Application on first mention in the article body, and then use Common App through ought on all subsequent mentions. I counted these as using "Common App". Regarding repeats, Forbes publishes on Common App data rather frequently, and I did note their usage here was mixed within the same article. Princeton Review switches back and forth but leads with the long name (Application). This fairly quick review did not turn up any publications that exclusively or overwhelmingly use the long name. --MYCETEAE 🍄🟫—talk 23:33, 5 July 2025 (UTC)
Updated member count and statistics
[edit]Common App now has 1,100+ member colleges and universities, over 40 HBCUs, 500+ that don't charge an application fee, and over 350 public colleges and universities.
