• The info on the new company's "team" is inaccurate. None of those individuals list a position with this new Commodore on their resumes because they are not part of this new Commodore. They all have jobs like "consultant" and "guru." Quite simply, they are being paid for the use of their names because the company feels they have cachet with the retro community. By putting this info in the article you are furthering their marketing goal by spreading this info. So yeah, your intent may not be promotional, but your result is. The article before your revision gives the facts on the new company which is that it was incorporated, they have acquired certain trademarks, they have a publicly identified CEO, and they are developing a FPGA-based C64 device that is available for preorder. The rest is fluff. If and when this thing actually releases (and I say that only because they have already missed their initial claimed target window for release), then we will have more info to evaluate what is really going on here from coverage in secondary sources independent of the company. Until then, there is not a lot to say. They really don't meet WP:GNG as the only coverage I have seen so far is either primary source coverage from the company or secondary source coverage that mostly parrots their announcements, so is not independent. Therefore, sticking to the basic facts I articulated above is the best balance between satisfying notability guidelines and mentioning them at all as part of coverage of the brand generally.   I've read your arguments and they're all plausible. I think it's worth waiting a bit to see if the new Commodore, currently a startup, is a serious project worthy of being featured alongside the main article. We're mentioning the initiative for informational purposes only. A brief piece of information, just a mention of the new initiative, but nothing more. Also because there is an ongoing legal battle over the Commodore trademarks. Wikipedia isn't a newspaper, so we're waiting for future developments. I'll write about this in the section on trademark disputes. The new Commodore, founded in June 2025, sued Commodore Industries S.r.l. for using the Commodore trademark without the relevant rights. see this: https://www.commodore.net/post/press-release

Commodore Industries S.r.l. registered the trademark in Italy without any problems. However, it is unclear where it acquired the rights. Dorian88A (talk) 13:55, 16 December 2025 (UTC)

It's Back

Commodore is officially a company again, with new products, and the same name. For that reason I'm changed the article to an "is" instead of a "was." I am not a good editor so if anyone would like to fix my suggestions I would be pleased to have your help. I side with User:CapnZapp that we should make this article about both the new and old Commodore International Corporation. At , the website reads "The official home of the original Commodore®. Copyright ©1958-2025 Commodore International Corporation." This is clearly under law the same company. Just use your common sense; there is no reason we can't just have one section dedicated to the modern company. WikusG (talk) 05:24, 16 February 2026 (UTC)

  Indrian, I tried to say the law isn't the point of it. Commodore hasn't really done anything since it was sold to the current owners. I don't think anyone would be angered if we just included a single section dedicated to the current condition of the company. There really isn't enough information to create a new article yet. In the mean time, we should just add a single section to this article. If you can gather enough information for a new article, you can create it. No one ever said you couldn't.   Well, the brand new Commodore 64 Ultimate that arrived Sunday and is now happily taking up some of my desk space is a strong indicator that it has been released. There have also been multiple reviews released since January when the first units apparently shipped. Tom's Hardware, IGN, The Guardian, and Games Radar are the top five when searching for it.

  Also, it is the same company. Both in name and legally. Its now run by a bunch of fans and retro hobbyists who pooled their money to buy the company and all surviving copyrights from the investors who were sitting on them. None of them lapsed as the investors kept them up to date.

Mobile phones

On clinical psychologist and technology writer Jacqueline Nesi’s ‘’Techno Sapiens’’ I heard tell from two commenters that mobile phones / cell phones would be released under this brand.

These phones would have fewer bells and whistles than smartphones.

Can anyone confirm or deny here?

Yes - I know! Tech rumours may or may not belong on Wikipedia dependent on how notable they are.

(if there are other sources than Techno Sapiens - going up the tech writing tree).

I thought it was notable and new because Commodore (at least: the Commodore I knew ca. 1985-1993) was not a telephony brand.
