Columbus Mudcats → Columbus Astros – Team used the name Astros for 19 years, only used the name Mudcats for 2 years. Newspapers.com search of “Columbus Astros” from 1991-2025 yields 5200 matches, search of “Columbus Mudcats” over the same timespan has only 300 matches. “Columbus Astros” is the WP:COMMONNAME. Weak support based on the length of seasons as the "Columbus Astros", not the number of search results. Searching newspapers.com for "columbus astros" returns results for "columbus astros", "columbus", and "astros". As such, lots of the results are not about this team, but about the Houston Astros or other teams from Columbus, so comparing the number of search results doesn't accurately indicate the most used term. A search for each name when restricting the results to the state of Georgia and 1992-2025 (to eliminate articles about the team's absence in the area in 1991, turns up 276 results for "astros" and 115 for "mudcats". Furthermore, most of the "astros" results are talking about the team in an historical sense, as in talking about something that happened in the past when the team bore that moniker.
