Introduction

[edit]
Hi there, thank you for choosing a Nova Scotian to write about. I'll be taking on this review today. If I make suggestions that are not related to the good article criteria, I will clearly mark them as (Optional). Please respond to actionable suggestions using templates such as {{Done}} and {{Not done}}. I will be adding to this review over the next hour or two. MediaKyle (talk) 14:23, 1 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
The article looks great, I've left some comments below. After you've made adjustments I'll do a spot check and see where we're at. Cheers, MediaKyle (talk) 15:28, 1 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Breadth and scope

[edit]
The first thing that jumps out to me about this article is that it lacks an "Early life" section. This is problematic for breadth and for the fact that the lead has information not present in the article. I would add an "Early life" section as seen at articles like Ryan Nugent-Hopkins - you may also be able to fit the single sentence under "Personal life" into that section as well. MediaKyle (talk) 14:23, 1 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Done, sort of. I've smushed together all that I could, but there's not much on his early life. Let me know if I should move it into the amateur playing career or personal life section as it might not be enough. Klinetalkcontribs 17:06, 1 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Personally, I would move the information from "Personal life" into "Early life" so you don't have a one-sentence section at the end of the article. I think it would fit in nicely after introducing his family. I wouldn't hold up a GA review over this, but I think consolidation would be an improvement. Prose

[edit]
Now I don't actually know hockey, but when I read Rimouski entered the 2019 playoffs as the third seed in the east I was left scratching my head. Usually I can figure out all the terminology fairly easily but this went way over my head. Can this be simplified at all? MediaKyle (talk) 14:37, 1 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
I tried to clarify this as they were the third seed in the eastern conference. The QMJHL sets up seeding 1 to 8 by conference.. it's a bit odd. Klinetalkcontribs 17:06, 1 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
After playing in September and October, he suffered an injury that required surgery, knocking him out for November and December. - "knocking him out" is a bit ambiguous, I would reword to be more clear.
 Done, reworded. Klinetalkcontribs 17:06, 1 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
He did not perform well, giving up nine goals in two starts, both of which he was pulled early. Something about this seems clunky. Maybe it should be something like He did not perform well, giving up nine goals in two starts, being pulled early both times?
 Done, reworded. Klinetalkcontribs 17:06, 1 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
Following his hot start to the AHL season... Would strong start be better wording for this?
I agree,  Done. Klinetalkcontribs 17:06, 1 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Verifiability

[edit]
The last two awards under "Awards and honours" need citations.

The last sentence in the first paragraph under "International play" needs a citation.

Source review

[edit]
Sources checked as of this diff. I only found one discrepancy to be addressed.
  • 1, 2: Verifies his birthdate and family background
  • 3: This reference does not appear to verify the fact that he began playing hockey with the Whycocomagh Minor Hockey Association, but it does verify the other part under "Early life".
  • 4, 5, 6: Checked, verifiable.
  • 8: Checked, verifiable.
  • 10: Checked, verifiable.
  • 12: Checked, verifiable.
  • 16: Checked, verifiable.
  • 18, 19: Checked, verifiable.
  • 21: Checked, verifiable.
  • 23, 24: Checked, verifiable.
  • 26: Checked, verifiable.
  • 33: Checked, verifiable.
  • 36: Checked, verifiable.
  • 39: Checked, verifiable.
  • 43: Checked, verifiable.
  • 49: Checked, verifiable.
  • 53: Checked, verifiable.
  • All references under "Awards and honours" verify the contents.
Supported 3 with another ref. Klinetalkcontribs 19:05, 1 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Miscellaneous

[edit]
(Optional) Under "Career statistics", that table seems quite compressed when I compare it to the ones at Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, with the numbers being much harder for me to read here. I would recommend tidying this up to be more legible if you can. MediaKyle (talk) 14:23, 1 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
I think this is just a matter of goalie stat boxes rather than the table being compressed. If you check out another goalie GA, Carter Hart, you'll see it's the same size as the one here, just longer because he has played more. Klinetalkcontribs 17:06, 1 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
I think you're right. I looked around, and even on FAs, goaltender career statistics seem to always be more smooshed together than other ice hockey players. I suppose this could be a matter of my own display but I find the totals at the bottom especially hard to read, all the numbers are right next to each other... But I guess that's just how it is. No matter for the purposes of a GA review. MediaKyle (talk) 18:06, 1 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
(Optional) I think the fact that he was the first goaltender from Cape Breton Island to play in the NHL is important enough to be included in the lead.

Obligatory Earwig check highlighted some similarities, but I saw nothing of concern.

Summary

[edit]
Overall, this article is well-written, understandable even to those with a vague familiarity with hockey (like me), and provides good coverage of the subject's entire hockey career. By my assessment, all information in the article is verifiable, and citation health is good. The article presents the subject's achievements in a neutral and encyclopedic manner, and is not the subject of any edit wars or content disputes. At this time, there are no images in the article to review. The article therefore passes each of the six good article criteria, and I'm pleased to promote it. Thank you for your efforts improving this article. MediaKyle (talk) 13:01, 4 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
