This is factually false: "The 1889 did not use a center pin and the cylinder was prone to move out of alignment.[1]"

The two main parts that determine lockup and cylinder rotation are known by different terms, depending on the maker. The two parts are the small stud in the bottom of the frame window that actually lock the cylinder, and the lever in the recoil shield that pushes the cylinder around.

What the M1899 did not have was a "Bolt"

Colt calls these the Bolt, and the Hand. S&W calls them the Cylinder Stop, and the Hand. Ruger calls them the Cylinder Latch, and the Pawl.
