[edit]

I've just made some changes to the page to help de-advert it. Mostly this is by removing information. A shady picnic area? Bah Humbug, tell me the oldest piece of equipment they have. What is the newest piece that is of historical significance? A few places I was able to reduce redundancy and wordiness by rearranging sentence order. Some group has been along for some amount of time and is focused on... great, put it in their article. The HO scale in the basement is open Tuesdays 'til 9PM? Funny, every time I've been there I've been able to stick my quarter into the machine and watch the default route, despite the fact it wasn't Tuesday. If it is meant that a member of the HO group is there to allow you to do your own switching then say that instead. How big is the HO scale layout? Does that make it notable? When did they obtain the property to the East and complete the loop (and build the round house)? I remember that on the days the engine was being operated, it was merely forward & back since the rails ended in the northeast corner of their land. While I don't know the full requirements of what makes a museum notable I'm hoping my comments here will help push this article in the right direction. 71.212.187.15 (talk) 07:52, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Location?

[edit]

It may have a Golden mailing address, but maps show that it's physically located in unincorporated Jefferson County. Golden's municipal borders in the museum's immediate vicinity are limited to Colorado State Highway 58. postdlf (talk) 21:45, 27 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Royal Gorge 40?

[edit]
File:Royal Gorge 40, identified in photo as at Colorado Railroad Museum

Photo at right purports to show Royal Gorge 40 at the Colorado Railroad Museum in 2007. Is it there? It is not covered in this article. See also new tabulation at Draft:Preserved locomotives in the United States. --Doncram (talk) 14:37, 17 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Images

[edit]

I have boldly moved the images from all over the article into a single gallery under the "Collections" section. I did this for several reasons, but the biggest one was that the article was very condensed under Vector 2022, which is the skin our readers see. Compare: Old and New.

However, I'm concerned that the article is turning a bit into an image dump - there are currently 12 images in the gallery as well as one in the "Facilities" section. For context, there are 24 images on Commons. So I am proposing that we remove the gallery and leave only an illustrative image in the "Collections" section. Readers can continue to Commons to view pictures of the collection. Ref: WP:GALLERY

If I don't hear anything back, I'll implement this change after a week (or so, as I'm busy IRL). Thank you! ~ Matthewrb Let's connect · Here to help 05:26, 28 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Loco listings

[edit]

Shouldn't Steam Locos also include the two Shay locos, currently in the Special Equipment listing? Also, the Diesel section could be expanded similarly. Please note that EMD F9 includes an image of the D&RGW units at the Museum. Kokopelli-UK (talk) 16:24, 5 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
