He appeared as a normal contestant on the show on the episode aired December 1, 1963, before he became popular and famous as the founder and owner of Kentucky Fried Chicken. Would this be notable enough to include in the article, or no? 68.49.126.217 (talk) 06:18, 13 January 2025 (UTC)

Thanks for asking the question, I have made an edit. I had a look at the source, and there's a bit more to it, as the coy use of citation marks suggest. He got involved in union affairs at the displeasure of management. According to the 1982 biography, the sickness/"insubordination" was just the first opportunity management saw to get rid of him. It's on pp 19-20 if you're interested in reading

Add to the Beyond section - Other fun references to the Colonel have been seen in television shows like Community’s episode https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_Rocket_Science#Production where a KFC product placement hinted at many notable marketing tropes used by the company, all of which remind one of the image of the famous Colonel.
