Did you know... that in Colombian folklore the legendary Alligatorman (Hombre Caiman) is said to be a fisherman converted by the spirit of the Magdalena River into an alligator, that returns every year on St. Sebastian´s Day to hunt human victims?

This article seems to translate "Madremonte" as "Mother of the Forest" but I would translate it as "Mountain Mother". Is there an authoritative source on the translation in the article? or is "Mother of the Forest" a translation of an alternative name for the same figure?
