"Indentured slaves" as a term

Is this a quotation from the Codrington will? It needs quotation marks if so, and rethought if not. Indentured slaves are two very different unfree situations for the 18th century. Indentured suggests a temporary situation where the Indentured person will be taught a trade and will serve a term before being freed. Children of Indentured servants did not follow their parent/s into the same situation unlike slavery. By the 18th century, chattle slavery was practiced and legally one did not become free on one's own, and children born to enslaved women followed the mother's status.
