Citation for elimination half life in infobox is irrelevant

[edit]

Reading through citation 9 (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1600-0404.2008.01004.x) which is the citation given for the elimination half life in the infobar. The paper doesn't actually discuss the elimination half-life of clonazepam in detail nor gives a specific number for it. The paper is on treating epilepsy with benzodiazepines, specifically.

It briefly mentions that some benzodiazepines have long half-lives due to lipid solubility. But, that's the most relevant it gets.

I checked and double checked the entirety of the full paper just to be sure I'm not mistaken. Not just the abstract, the full article. I could find no specific mention or a figure of 19 to 60 hours for the elimination half-life of clonazepam anywhere within the paper.

As such, I am removing this as a citation for the elimination half-life of clonazepam.

I am also suggesting that a relevant citation be used, and the figure of 19 to 60 hours listed as the elimination be reviewed and changed according to the new citation, relevant citation.

I also think the current figure of 19 to 60 hours should be removed immediately as it has no credible citation. Medical articles have a higher standard for claims and the citations that support them. As such, I think a more aggressive approach is necessary than if it were about another topic. But, I will leave this up to a community discussion. VoidHalo (talk) 21:28, 21 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

It doesn't discuss but it includes the value in table 2 citing Berlin A, Dahlström H. Pharmacokinetics of the anticonvulsant drug clonazepam evaluated from single oral and intravenous doses and by repeated oral administration. Eur J Clin Pharmacol 1975; 9: 155–9. ahh thank you for pointing that out. Though, I said I would remove the citation for this figure, I never did. Deciding, instead, to leave it to community discussion.
As usual, I'm glad I decided to err on the side of caution. I had a nagging feeling there was something I was missing.
Thank you, good sir. VoidHalo (talk) 23:22, 21 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
