Is there proof that animated Clayface was inspired by Plasmus? And does anyone else think Inque deserves a mention?

Dick Tracy connection

The 1990's animated version of Clayface resembles the Dick Tracy foe the Man of a Million Faces, who was also a stage star whose face was disfigured who gained shape shifting powers through experimental materials.

Catwoman Clayface?

Does anyone know anything about the Clayface that appeared in the Catwoman series and was killed by Angle Man? Artemisboy 16:08, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

John Carlinger

There actually was one other Clayface on Earth-1. John Carlinger was a director based on John Carpenter who slew Basil Karlo and took over as Clayface in 'Tec#496.

Mud Pack is a medical treatment

That's strange that you forward the page "mud pack" to comic character clay face - a mud pack is a medical treatment, it's common in Germany - if so in UK or US I don't know.

A mud pack is good if you have arthritis - its a package of hot mineralic clay put on the aching joints. If you don't believe me google for eg "fango", but there are other sources for mineralic clay/ mud often used , eg mud from the Northern Sea ws 11.7.2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.220.164.33 (talk) 09:38, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Hagen in 1977

More comic information in lead.

Not sure why the lead is more filled with media adaptation information for an article about the comic characters. There should be more background information about the clayface characters from the comics. I will add more but it'd be great to have more editors also add comic book information in the lead. ~2026-13836-90 (talk) 18:17, 21 April 2026 (UTC)

"Infinite Frontier" section needs cleanup by someone knowledgeable

Read this first paragraph of the section, and try to make sense of it:

In Infinite Frontier, Basil Karlo, bringing Killer Croc, Firefly, Cheshire, and Knockout as potential allies seeking a second chance. Then Karlo assures Selina that her Alleytown stronghold will inevitably come to a head with the Magistrate, which can be better served with formidable allies by her side. Clayface and Killer Croc attack Valley, giving Selina a chance to escape into the water, as the Magistrate Croc tell Basil to retreat and before that Valley destroys Clayface with a grenade.

I'm not knowledgeable enough about Clayface or the rest of the content to make any changes to content here, so I am only pointing out the needs. I could fix the language problems, but only if I knew what any missing words should communicate. That's why I'm requesting or suggesting that someone else has to be the one to pick up on this small bit of work. (In fact, I'm just casually reading to learn a bit about Clayface, so I won't be checking back or monitoring the page. I'm simply writing this to be generally helpful to the project for future readers and people who do care more.)

I am not griping or trolling; it would be nice for the future readers if someone who knows the storyline could rewrite this portion of the article to more clearly communicate a decent summary of the story, and with better use of the language.

The paragraph fails to serve as even a reasonable summary of anything, leaving gaps in the information and failing to connect its three sentences together well. There's a very poor sense of the story here.

The first sentence isn't actually a complete sentence. Perhaps it only needs to replace "bringing" with another verb; but I believe it needs a bit more information, regardless. Basil brings some characters together, some characters who might want a second chance. But at what? And to do what? Does he do anything else while, or by, bringing them together? I assume that (1) they're villains and that (2) the second chance is a second chance to abandon a life of crime or some such -- but a reader shouldn't have to make such an assumption or look up such small, basic bits of information as either of those things elsewhere.

The second sentence says that a stronghold will come to a head with a person. What does that actually mean? How would a place "come to a head" with a person? And what does "come to a head" mean in this context? Situations are said to come to a head. But not places or people, nor are multiple things said to come to a head with each other. It is just a poor use of the expression, and fails to communicate to the reader what the assurance (warning? assertion?) is. Also in this sentence, what or who can be better served by allies? The sentence structure leaves this unclear.

The third sentence seems to be missing some words or phrases -- perhaps due to accidental deletion while typing, or missed text during dictation? "Magistrate Croc" seems like an obvious place where something is missing, since Killer Croc and The Magistrate are mentioned as separate characters earlier. (Or maybe, this being the comics, the characters were somehow merged into "Magistrate Croc" without mention here? All things seem possible...) "Tell" should be "tells" IF one character alone is doing the telling. Who is this Valley, someone or some group or place left unmentioned before this sentence? Why is Valley attacked? Is Selina's escape merely a side-effect of the attack, or its purpose?

Also in the third sentence ... If Basil and Clayface are the same person, as is reinforced repeatedly throughout the whole article, how is it that "Magistrate Croc" tells Basil/Clayface to retreat AFTER Valley destroys Basil/Clayface? One way to read this four-part sentence is also communicating that Basil/Clayface is destroyed before he (and Killer Croc) attack Valley. It could be read to state that Basil/Clayface was destroyed before Basil/Clayface simultaneously attacked and was being told to retreat. As things read here, it makes no sense. (Of course, this still being the comics, Basil/Clayface could be destroyed and then un-destroyed somehow, allowing him to do and be told things after being destroyed ... but if that's the case, then this paragraph needs to share that with the reader, who must be assumed to be completely ignorant of the topic.)

. . . Sooo, it seems of small import, but this paragraph has so many problems that I think could be remedied with very little effort and time by someone who knows the storyline of Infinite Frontier (whether that is a single story in one issue or an ongoing storyline like New 52 or the Infinite Crises stories) and who can write with some care for leaving sensible, connected text. Powers And Abilities section: clarity needed

Preston Payne originally had an amorphous physiology, yet ended up gaining the ability to melt people with his touch. He has immense strength from his anti-melting exoskeleton. Preston's metamorphic abilities were later restored by Prometheus.

"metamorphic abilities were later restored" ... Why is this mentioned here? Or, why mention this without any mention of them being lost? Is the first sentence **implying** that he lost the amorphous physiology when he gained the melting touch?

As a small aside about a question needlessly raised, why is the exoskeleton "anti-melting"??? Would an exo-skeleton not be useless if it *did* melt, so shouldn't all exoskeletons be "anti-melting"? Okay, I realize that's probably taking things too literally, but I'm making the point that you leave uninformed readers wondering, and for no reason, I think. If this is just supposed to be a list of powers/abilities, then: - He has an amorphous physiology that allows shape-shifting. - He has an exoskeleton that gives him immense strength. - (His exoskeleton prevents him from melting himself? Other people? Everything he touches? What?) - (Don't mention restoration of powers lost without explaining the loss -- or perhaps better, just don't mention them. If is actually is better, then just note the temporary loss when you first list the power. For instance, you could say, "He has an amorphous physiology that allows shape-shifting; for a time, he lost the ability, but it was restored by Prometheus later.") ~2026-41268-51 (talk) 07:32, 24 July 2026 (UTC)
