Citizendium was one of the Social sciences and society good articles, but it has been removed from the list. There are suggestions below for improving the article to meet the good article criteria. Once these issues have been addressed, the article can be renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake.

Menegus, Brian (2019-07-01). "Wikipedia Co-Founder Picks a Nice Day to Log Off". Gizmodo UK. Retrieved 2020-07-06. After leaving Wikipedia, he founded Citizendium, a competing online encyclopedia I had never heard of until writing this very article. The depressing last paragraph of Citizendium's Wikipedia page states, "a referendum was held to abolish the governing Citizendium Charter and the Council in favour of Wikipedia-style discussion and consensus. It attracted nine votes, and was passed. A new Managing Editor was to be elected at the same time, but there were no nominations."

I'd note that while https://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Special:Statistics , accessed today, shows zero active users in the last 30 days, Citizentium is not entirely dead; https://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Special:RecentChanges shows a few users are still editing the site as recently as today. Is it really appropriate to add commentary about the site's recent status based on the primary source of Wikimedia's recent contributions page? I would argue no, so I am reverting this for now. MarchOfTheGreyhounds (talk) 02:28, 21 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Fine by me either way, but the Decline section already used a few like that (citing RC or site statistics), which isn't so unusual for sites that self-report stats. – SJ + 03:11, 21 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

You certainly weren't the first to add this kind of content. I also see something similar was recently removed by @X-Editor (perhaps for the same reason? There was no edit summary). (10 Oct 2025, 05h UTC): They have the information that Trump is President for the term 2025-2028/2029. But they also have a section: "Running again, or trying to" (https://citizendium.org/wiki/Donald_Trump#Running_again,_or_trying_to), where the end of the 2024 presidential campaign is described to be open. --Himbeerbläuling (talk) 05:46, 10 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
