  • Article was created on 19 August with 4,467 B (698 words) of readable prose and nominated the same day, so it is new, timely and long enough. Earwig shows 9.9% similarity for standard use of names/titles and I found no broader copyvio concerns. No QPQ is required. The article is well sourced and covers an interesting subject. The model/ranger contrast makes an interesting hook.
A few points need tightening:
1) The hook is not fully verified by the cited ABC source. It confirms that Rostron worked as a ranger but not specifically in the Djelk IPA.
2) The supporting sentence in the article also involves a small amount of WP:SYNTH: one source says Rostron is a Djelk ranger working in West Arnhem Land, while another says the Bawinanga Rangers operate in the Djelk IPA, but neither directly links Rostron’s work to the IPA. The hook and sentence should therefore be reworded or directly sourced.
3) Source 27 is an Instagram post and is flagged by Cite Unseen as generally unreliable. Since this is a BLP, it would be better to remove the source and either remove the sentence or replace it with one supported by a WP:RS.
4) For neutrality, a few phrases could also be toned down, particularly “prominent First Nations figure” in the lead and the Lidia Thorpe “role model” sentence, which is sourced only to Instagram.
With those small changes, the nomination should be in good shape for another look. HerBauhaus · talk 10:12, 20 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@HerBauhaus: I reverted the page and added the alt hook. Does that work better? Sorry, I hadn't done a DYK nomination before this, I'm not familiar with how you're supposed to do it. Thanks for helping me out. Thestorkjob (talk) 13:05, 26 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thestorkjob, nice job. On issues 1) and 2) ALT0a fixes the hook/SYNTH issue, 3) Instagram has been removed, and 4) the tone is overall more neutral. One point remains: "She also continues to be active as an influencer on social media" is uncited in the body. Please add a reliable source there. Once done, the lead can summarise it per MOS:LEADCITE, and this should be ready to approve. HerBauhaus · talk 14:08, 26 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
HerBauhaus I've added a source to that sentence now.
Thanks Thestorkjob, that's very close now. One small BLP sourcing point remains. Cite Unseen flags the new ANI source as only marginally reliable for supporting "social media influencer". I couldn't find a stronger source that explicitly uses that label. However, ABC News does support that social media is part of her work and that she uses TikTok and Instagram to represent her community. Since this is a BLP, I think the safest option is to remove "social media influencer" from the lead and reword the body sentence to something like "She also uses TikTok and Instagram as part of her work and to represent her community", cited to ABC News. Once that's done, I think the nomination is ready to approve. HerBauhaus · talk 08:32, 28 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
HerBauhaus Hi again, just pinging to let you know I have edited the page as you said. Thestorkjob (talk) 10:55, 28 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Thestorkjob. The hook and lead are fine now. My concern about ANI is separate: BLPs have higher sourcing standards, and ANI is still cited for the 2026 India collaboration. I’d replace that marginally reliable source with a stronger one or leave the detail out. HerBauhaus · talk 11:21, 28 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
HerBauhaus I have now replaced the ANI source with one from Canberra Times. Is that suitably strong for a BLP?
Sourcing concerns are fully addressed. Nice job, and good to go on ALT0a! HerBauhaus · talk 14:36, 28 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
