St Maol Ruadh

The sign at the site definitely says "Maol Ruadh", however this appears to be a place rather than a Saint - see e.g. Battle of Maol Ruadh. I suspect that this is a mistake in the sign, and that it should instead be Maol Rubha. Mike Peel (talk) 18:35, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

I removed the wikification around St. Maol Ruadh in the history section as it was a red link. The sentence includes: "when St Maelrubha preached ... by St Maol Ruadh in", which appears to be two versions of the same name. Maol Rubha is a redirect to the Wiki article Maol Rubha which starts: "Máel Ruba (pronounced /mail Ruva/), ... Maol Rubha (MoRubha/MaRuibhe) (Scottish Gaelic spelling)" and is about the saint not the battle. Can someone confirm they are one and the same man, and make an appropriate judgement please? I'm aware of local sensibilities and as a Sassenach don't wish to tread on toes! Meanwhile I've redone the wikification on St. Maol Ruadh to go straight to Maol Rubha. OK, I've been bold, and assumed the Wiki page Mael Ruba is acceptable and standardised on it, with a reference note to alert readers. If you prefer the Maelrubha spelling, please feel free to change it. I think that it is important for the reader that only one spelling is used, see the confusion from Mike Peel above!.
