RfC on the inclusion of Hai Peng Coffee Shop

[edit]

Should Hai Peng Coffee Shop be included in Chukai's attractions page? DervotNum4 (talk) 17:38, 6 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Some further information, this dispute started with 173.23.165.158 removing a line from the page , I restored a modified version of it , 173.23.165.158 then removed it again we then had a discussion about the issue on 173.23.165.158's talk page which I recommend anyone coming here read as it's not very long and provides context to the dispute. • No. That's obviously promotional. Some random coffee shop is not encyclopedic. Maybe if it was like, a coffee shop that was historically important, or the building was notable, but otherwise, we don't exist to shout out peoples businesses. • This fails WP:RFCBEFORE; Rfc header removed. So far, this is nothing more than a dispute between two editors, with nothing on the article Talk page about it, and we are not going to tie up numerous editors for the next 31 days, just to deal with a simple case of edit-warring a content dispute. Carry out your discussion here, seek a third opinion, invite other editors, notify WikiProjects if you want, or seek other methods of dispute resolution. After a long conversation here where editors remain hopelessly deadlocked on the way forward, you can start an Rfc. But you are not close to that point now. What edit warring? 173.23.165.158 made an edit, I made a different edit which 173.23.165.158 reverted, then we discussed. Neither of us have done any edit warring. DervotNum4 (talk) 18:59, 6 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yes, you are right, and I was wrong to imply that you or they did; I have redacted my comment above. Nevertheless, after deadlocking there, bringing it to an Rfc is premature, as you have graciously agreed on your UTP, and my comment was more about ensuring that it did not proceed to an edit-war; I regret that I phrased that poorly. You acted properly by discussing (albeit at the wrong venue) and avoiding one, and you get the credit for that. Now we should put all that aside, and let the real discussion about the content dispute begin. Notifying some WikiProjects could be a good start. Coming back after a few days now I've started to feel that the coffee shop violates WP:Undue if not also some of the things brought up on 173.23.165.158's talk page. DervotNum4 (talk) 01:46, 9 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
