Conflict of Interest Concerns
[edit]On April 16th, an anonymous user added a tag for potential Conflict of Interest (COI). Please share any specific concerns to get this article to a more neutral and accurate state.
At the time the tag was opened, the editor did not open a discussion on this page to address specific concerns. Without that, the tag should be removed per Maintenence Template Removal guidelines (#7):
If the maintenance template is of a type that requires support but is not fully supported. For example, neutrality-related templates such as {{COI}} (associated with the conflict of interest guideline) or {{POV}} (associated with the neutral point of view policy) strongly recommend that the tagging editor initiate a discussion (generally on the article's talk page) to support the placement of the tag. If the tagging editor failed to do so, or the discussion is dormant, and there is no other support for the template, it can be removed. A {{notability}} tag may be removed and may not be re-added if an article has passed an Wikipedia:Articles for deletion review. Pilzen82 (talk) 16:04, 18 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Pilzen82, Regarding suspected WP:COI, could you explain the photo of Chuck Fletcher that you uploaded and listed yourself as the author of? Vegantics (talk) 16:30, 20 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Vegantics! That's a very fair question, and I'm happy to. I apologize for the delay to reply (sometimes life gets busy).
- I work in the same industry as Mr. Fletcher, and while I have met him, we are not in regular contact. To be very explicit, he did not request, encourage, pay, or in any way motivate me to make updates here. In fact, it was all done without his knowledge.
- As you might be able to tell from his edit history, professional sports tends to bring out emotional responses from fans that don't always lead to the most fair accounting of someone's career. When I saw the page here before I made edits, I felt it was an inaccurate and unfair account of the facts, so I've done my best to be more complete and objective. Though, the ultimate goal here is a factual and accurate article above all else, so I'd gladly welcome others to review and make thoughtful edits if there are way to improve my tone.
- To speak specifically to the picture, as I was making progress, I noticed that most of his peers pages did have pictures. You may have noticed from the history, that I first attempted to use a professional image because I didn't fully understand requirements on licensing of images. (I apologize for the error.) When it became clear that pictures available to me would not be acceptable, I reached out to a mutual connection to ask if they could share a picture of him, and that is the image currently on the page.
- Please let me know if I can provide more details, or if this addresses your concerns. Pilzen82 (talk) 06:16, 28 April 2026 (UTC)
