Notability

[edit]

I am not convinced the subject of this article meets WP:NMUSIC. While she did chart a single, sources are sorely lacking.

  • A search for "Christy Sutherland" in 2004 on Newspapers.com only turned up passing name-drops as an opening act. This writeup in her local paper was the only substantial coverage I could find.
  • This article does interview her briefly, but it's more about the lack of women in country radio in general and only mentions Sutherland for a couple sentences.
  • Back issues of Billboard, Radio & Records, and other music magazines on World Radio History did not bring up anything except for chart positions or name-drops in articles about Epic Records. I couldn't find any reviews of the single or anything.
  • This was the only coverage I could find of her after 2004, and again, it's from her hometown newspaper. Also, it doesn't even mention her career on Epic Records.
  • The "Diamond Awards" do not appear to be a major industry award worthy of notability.

So while she charted a single, it seems she quickly disappeared and garnered no coverage for what she did release. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 16:09, 10 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Pinging @Sammi Brie: for her excellent source sleuthing. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 19:00, 11 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
This is going to have to wait a week. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 12:57, 13 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Sammi Brie: any luck yet? Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 01:23, 25 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
I'd agree with your assessment. No significant coverage in ProQuest. The closest I get in NewsBank is some hometown coverage too, including an article about some direct-to-DVD Christian movie she acted in in 2015. There is also an opioid researcher/doctor in British Columbia by this name, so a fair number of confounding results. Sammi Brie (she/her · t · c) 04:03, 25 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
