China's dark fleet → Maritime smuggling by China – Or something that doesn't encourage (or practically require) an article that reads like a spy novel like this one does, given very little if anything is and can actually be said about the fleet itself. Almost certainly, the same should be done regarding Iran's ghost fleet, created by the same editor with the same apparent scope problems. Remsense🌈论 13:50, 10 August 2025 (UTC)—Relisting.Tenshi! Oppose Had you read the sources, you would see it is the most common name used to describe the Chinese fleet. It is basic understanding when writing an article one uses the most common name. The fact that you think it sounds like a spy novel, is you personal interpretation alone. BasselHarfouch (talk) 14:39, 10 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oppose "Dark fleet" or "Dark Fleet" is the clear WP:COMMONNAME for the ships. It's rather humorous to say that something involving espionage "reads like a spy novel". Well, duh... ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 08:33, 11 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Oppose - Dark fleet is the common name and Maritime smuggling is too wide a target. Maritime smuggling would include actions by criminal enterprises including things like human trafficking, drug smuggling, etc. This article's focus is specifically on the use of civilian ships to evade international sanctions. The voting ended at 4 opposing the move and only 3 who agree to the move, so as the majority in the voting are against the move, i do not understand why the article's name was changed. @RobertskyBasselHarfouch (talk) 05:58, 26 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
@BasselHarfouch first, you do not get to move the article after the discussion is close. I have reverted your move. The instructions are clear in the closing Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page.. It may be moved back pending a discussion with the closer, not on open of a discussion. 2. I don't count votes but the strength of the arguments, and find the consistency point is a more compelling one when both dark fleet and shadow fleet proponents claim common name. Even if we count votes, even among the opposes, there is one preferring the alternative title. Wouldn't that make 4 for the alternative title? – robertsky (talk) 07:22, 26 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
First sorry for me action, thought it is a fair revert. Second, i still find it really strange, that even though most sources use the term "China's dark fleet", making it a legitimate name for the article, some people think they know better than the sources, and hand out article titles, as they wish.
