Chigasaki, Kanagawa → Chigasaki – Unecessary disambiguation, as Chigasaki redirects here. MOS:JAPLACE specifies the 'City, Prefecture' style only when disambiguation is required; therefore, this article should be moved to the prefecture-less title per WP:CONCISE. Yours, &c. - @RGloucester What are you thoughts on the reasoning in the original move summary that was the reverse of this? (MChew moved page Chigasaki to Chigasaki, Kanagawa over redirect: mos ja) Also, @Mchew still edits and would have worthy input on their logic back then, which appears to refer to manual of style for Japan or Japanese. - There is a possibility that the guidelines have changed in the intervening decade, but my understanding of MOS:JAPLACE as it is written now is that the prefecture is only used '
when disambiguation is required
'. Other cities that do not require disambiguation, such as Hekinan and Nishio, appear to use an undisambiguated title. Yours, &c. RGloucester — ☎ 09:39, 8 October 2025 (UTC)- I beg your pardon. It seems that a discussion in 2014 abolished a previous requirement to use the prefecture in article titles. Yours, &c. RGloucester — ☎ 09:45, 8 October 2025 (UTC)
