Some of the wording on this page sounds like it was either written by someone working in the advertising industry, or were akin to the lawsuit. Robertjm (talk) 00:23, 6 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Oknazevad: I sure thought I got those numbers correct from the referenced sources. What source(s) do you have that identifies them as incorrect? JoJo Anthrax (talk) 15:37, 11 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

If you look at the link that's used as a reference, all six of the NYC-area come up. Plus, I personally verified the existence of them in person. Helps that I live in New Jersey within walking distance of one of them. oknazevad (talk) 17:55, 11 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I looked at this link from the article, and looked again just now, and only two metro New York locations are evident. The link to the Canadian site explicitly lists 19, which matches the number of sites indicated on the associated map. And our own personal experiences are not reliable sources. But look, there's no way I'm going to edit war over this. Especially not against someone from Joisey. JoJo Anthrax (talk) 18:19, 11 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
When I click the first link I get all six locations: Dumont, Hillsdale, Jersey City, North Bergen, and Rahway, New Jersey, and Westbury, Long Island. Don't know when they're not all showing up for you, but they are there. oknazevad (talk) 18:26, 11 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I still do not get six locations from that link, and it is 19 for Canada. But as I said above, this is hardly a major issue for me so I will now drop it. The one in my old neighborhood - where the take-out would be a plate with another plate stapled to it as a lid - disappeared long, long ago. JoJo Anthrax (talk) 18:40, 11 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Article history and sourcing notes

[edit]

This article was substantially expanded in June 2026 from a ~500-word stub with several factual errors. The current version corrects the acquisition date (1965, not 1964), the peak location count, and other inaccuracies in the previous version.

Primary sources: The article relies heavily on contemporaneous newspaper coverage, principally the Moline Daily Dispatch (the chain's hometown paper, with extensive coverage of the founding era), the New York Times (covering the Consolidated Foods acquisition, the antitrust litigation, and its aftermath), and two 1979 Winnipeg Free Press articles by Paul Moloney, which provide the most detailed account of the Koch acquisition and the antitrust aftermath available in print. This concentration reflects the sourcing landscape for a regional topic rather than editorial preference.

Corporate website: The Chicken Delight corporate website ("Our History") is cited under WP:ABOUTSELF for uncontroversial self-description of the 2012 and 2023 ownership transitions, for which no independent newspaper coverage has been located. Editors with access to Winnipeg Free Press archives may be able to supply independent sourcing for these transitions.

Canadian legal entity: The incorporation date of Chicken Delight of Canada Ltd. (November 26, 1958) is sourced to the Manitoba Companies Office registry. Physical filing records at the Companies Office may contain additional information about the founding directors not available in the online system.
