could s.o. add a reference to s.th. like "slang terms for girl/woman"?
-- I'll second that suggestion - it is obviously strange to mention "chick lit" and "Dixie Chicks", but omit the meaning "young girl/woman". And there's another question - etymology of this word: does it derive from "chicken", or from "shiksa"? 83.149.49.218 (talk) 02:49, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Etymology
[edit]Above, anon suggested 'chick' might come from 'shiksa' (whatever that is). I wanted to suggest it might come from Spanish 'chica'. Alas, the Spanish Wikipedia doesn't have an article on 'chick', nor even on 'chica'. DirkvdM (talk) 10:45, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
