Last admiral?

When this page was created in 2013, it claimed (without citation) that "he was one of the last living admirals of the Imperial Japanese Navy". By 2015 it claimed (still without citation) that he was also "the last Japanese veteran of World War I." At some point later it was changed to claim that "he was the last surviving admiral of the Imperial Japanese Navy", still with no citation. The first claim is vague enough that it can probably be supported, but I can't find any books or news reports that support either of the two grander claims. Are these true? If they are true, can they be attributed to reliable sources? If they can't they ought to be removed. pburka (talk) 18:02, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

It looks like Ijnfleetadmiral made the "last living" claim in this edit. The user appears to have inserted similar unsourced claims elsewhere, e.g. Shigetarō Shimada and Osami Nagano. pburka (talk) 16:04, 1 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
