Ghost claim

[edit]

I deleted the sentence "The Grand Manan Tourism Association claims his ghost haunts the island". The reference cited was http://www.grandmanannb.com/otherIslands.html which contains no such claim, but says: "It is said to be haunted by the ghost of the original settler, known as “Old Man Cheney”. This is not a claim by GM Tourism about the actual existence of a ghost, but a statement that "it is said" (by whom?) that the ghost haunts the island. HazelAB (talk) 14:37, 26 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand your complaint that the tourism board writing the sentence "It [the island] is said to be haunted by the ghost" cannot be used as a citation to state "The tourism board claims his ghost haunts the island" - to me, that's the same meaning. If the wording needs to be tweaked a bit feel free to tweak it, but I'd rather it's not removed as it's an informative bit of "local colour" as it's the only thing the tourism board can invent to publish to make it seem interesting lol (I think we can all agree there is no actual ghost - same as any claim by any tourism board).
