Double

I frequently install double check valves on existing lawn sprinkler systems that use other types of obsolete backflow devices or none at all. The statement that most homes or buildings have check valves is incorrect. H2O 18:09, 30 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Emergency TV Show

In the 1972, the TV show Emergency dramatized the lack of a "clapper". The backfeed allowed accidental contamination of fuel into the municipal water supply. The lawn sprinkler bursting into flame is a particularly memorable special effect.
