B-17E 41-9021 is “Big Bitch/Hangar Queen”, not “Sweet Chariot”; Hangar Queen was my Dad’s plane that he flew as Navigator on the first raid from England to the marshalling yards outside of Rouen, France on August 17, 1941. Interestingly, my father was at Chateaudum Airfield at the very same time that Gen Doolittle was awarding the “Sweet Chariot” crew, pictured in your article. 173.224.185.91 (talk) 03:33, 6 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
