Born in 1838? or in 1842?

The information about the Charles H. utter who died on 3 July 1915, according to note 12. states that that Utter was born on 14 March 1842. The article states that Utter is born in 1838 (and so do Wikidata and the other wiki's). Are we sure this is the same Utter? RonnieV (talk) 23:06, 12 November 2020 (UTC)

Charlie Utter in literature

Charlie Utter is also the protagonist of Pete Dexter's novel Deadwood, which should be included in the article, as some people, including Dexter, think it was used as source material for the eventual television series, which IS mentioned. Although the series creators deny it, there are undeniable similarities, including many of the same characters. Disproven photograph - outdated page

Hi, I'm not proficient enough with Wikipedia to make edits to the page myself, however I'd like to point out that the attached photograph is not of Colorado Charlie Utter & Arapahoe Joe, but it is rather a photograph of "Arapahoe Harve" Harvey Faucet and "Ranger" Hank Wormwood. I don't have any genuine sources to verify this, but simply compare the photo to one of Harvey Faucett and without a doubt you will see. They have the exact same clothing and their appearance otherwise is also identical; the only relation to Utter the photo has is his name on Hickok's gravestone. There are no confirmed photographs of Utter, and there are several others such as Eugene Overton and Charles Stobie who have also been mislabeled as him in the past. The photo on the page has been disproven for a while now, and I'm actually quite surprised it is still on here. BuffaloBillFrederickCody (talk) 17:31, 23 May 2026 (UTC)
